It is with great sadness that Greasepaint Theatre Company has made the difficult decision to cancel this evening’s performance of The Importance of Being Earnest at The Plantation Garden (SATURDAY 21st AUGUST 2021).
Unfortunately, most weather forecast providers predict significant rainfall (and some suggest later thunderstorms) and we must prioritise the comfort and safety of our cast, crew, volunteers and audience. We are therefore calling off this evening’s event.
The cost of your tickets for this performance can be transferred to Greasepaint Theatre Company’s next production (title and dates to be announced, and you will be given priority notice of this); this will also enable us to proceed with paying your £1 per ticket donation to The Dragonfly (local youth mental health unit).
If you would prefer to receive a refund for your tickets, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the name you booked under and bank details you would like this refunded to. We regret that we are unable to make the £1 donation to The Dragonfly from any refunded tickets. Stage Stubs’ booking fees (90p per ticket) are non-refundable as per their terms and conditions. Refund requests must be made within 30 days of the date of this email and we will process these as quickly as we can.
After the great success of yesterday’s performance, we are very excited about planning our next production and are looking forward to bringing more local theatre to our audiences.
Huge thanks for your support,
Greasepaint Theatre Company
ITHE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST at THE PLANTATION GARDEN (20th & 21st AUGUST 2021) HAS SOLD OUT.
Oscar Wilde’s most popular play offers farcical comedy with witty dialogue, as it pokes fun at the social conventions of late-Victorian high society. An enjoyable evening of manners, morals, and mayhem – and something about a handbag… (Abridged, approx. 1 hour & 45 mins).
Open-air production – bring your own seating/blanket and picnic! …. why not dress for the occasion in 1890s style?!
Performances take place at The Plantation Garden, 4 Earlham Road, Norwich, NR2 3DB – please go to their website
for information on accessibility and parking - www.plantationgarden.co.uk
Tickets are non-refundable.
Important information about your visit:
To avoid queues and delays there is no interval during this play, but the Garden’s toilet facilities remain open throughout the evening. There will be short interludes for scene changes between the 3 Acts – during which Dr Frederick Chasuble and Miss Laeticia Prism will treat us to some Victorian parlour song; they will also treat us to a few numbers before the show (around 6.15pm) to help get us in the spirit of things for a 6.30pm start.
£1 from every ticket sale will go to the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (Registered Charity Number: 1103563), in particular its ‘Dragonfly’ adolescent psychiatric unit. Thank you for contributing to something which is very close to our hearts. If you would like to ‘Gift Aid’ your donation, forms will be available on the night to enable you to do this.
This is an open-air production - please remember to bring suitable attire, sun cream, umbrellas etc. for our unpredictable weather conditions! Please refer to our poor weather policy below for further information.
Please bring your own blankets, folding chairs etc. as seating is not provided. We are not selling refreshments at the Garden so do please bring your own picnics and please use bins provided or take litter home to assist the Plantation Garden volunteers.
There is no parking available at the Plantation Garden. There is limited paid parking and street parking on nearby roads in the Earlham Road area but, if driving, it may be better to park in the other city car parks and make your way from there. Please plan your travel and parking in advance to avoid disappointment.
This information has also been emailed to all ticketholders. We hope you enjoy your visit.
Open-air performance poor weather policy
The performance will continue in light to medium rain - please bring umbrellas/waterproofs. In the event of heavy/torrential rain,
the performance will be stopped and continued after the downpour. If the heavy rain is persistent the company may stop the
performance entirely. The performance will be stopped if conditions become unsafe, e.g. flooding of performance space or lightning storm.
If the performance is cancelled before it begins tickets will be transferred to a future available performance or refunded if alternative
performances are not suitable. If the performance is stopped after 45 minutes tickets will not be refunded but can be transferred
to another performance where available. If the decision is made to cancel a performance before it begins Greasepaint Theatre Company will make every reasonable effort to contact ticket holders in advance as time permits.
